HURON — The Mitchell High School girls’ tennis went 1-2 at a quadrangular Saturday.

Brandon Valley beat Mitchell 7-2 and Mitchell beat Huron 9-0 before losing to Aberdeen Central 9-0.

Mitchell has a record of 5-4 and 3-4 in the Eastern South Dakota Conference. The Kernels have played all the teams in the ESD, according to coach Pat Moller, and now know where they stand in the conference.

“We are right in the middle of the pack,” he said. “We haven’t played anybody that we can’t beat, other than Aberdeen.”

Besides Aberdeen and Brandon Valley, Mitchell has lost to Watertown and Yankton in the ESD.

“We aren’t that far below Watertown, Brandon Valley and Yankton,” Moller said. “We are competitive in the ESD.”

Kendra Cersosimo won a singles match against Brandon Valley and went 2-1 at the quadrangular.

“Kendra had a good day and asserted herself as the team leader in that third spot,” Moller said.

Mitchell plays Thursday at Sioux Falls Washington.
