Moonlight owner collapses, later dies, from apparent heart attack at bar

UPDATED, 10 a.m.

A Mitchell man collapsed from an apparent heart attack early this morning at the Moonlight Bar and Lounge and died later at the local hospital.

Owner Greg Foster was preparing cash deposits when he reportedly had a heart attack, said John Dean, owner of the nearby Sweet Shoppe and Foster’s friend for 25 years.

“His wife, Shannon, ran over to get me,” he said, saying Foster fell ill around 7:35 a.m.

Foster is typically at the bar around 7 a.m. getting ready for the workday, Dean said.

A Mitchell ambulance brought Foster to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Police said Foster died at 8:25 a.m. at the hospital.
