LETTER: Four-day school week can be good

In reference to the recent story “South Dakota schools cut costs with 4-day week”: Parents should embrace the shortened school week as a chance to get more “parenting” time with their kids.
Kids should be happy to be able to catch up on some homework and extra workout time in the gym for high school sports.
If the teachers are good and take advantage of time they do have in the classroom, our kids will be taught well enough to easily go to the next level into college. By the way, if teachers are in it for the money, they are in the wrong profession anyway.
The globalized education world allows teachers to have access to so many resources, they should have no problems in South Dakota. If we subscribe to the idea that there is increased familial strife in the United States, that Friday off of school could be put to good use with parents getting in more quality time with their kids and teachers getting more quality time with grading papers and ensuring the lesson plan is good to go.
