RAPID CITY (AP) — The main entrance at Ellsworth Air Force Base has officially reopened following the completion of a renovation project.

The Liberty Gate project was the final part of a three-part, $12.1 million project that also involved improvements to two other gates. They can now handle more traffic, and they have increased comforts for airman and better security.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday at the Liberty Gate, which was closed last August for the reconstruction.
