SELBY (AP) — A South Dakota woman has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the stabbing death of a Mobridge man early this year.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors have dropped a murder charge against 43-year-old Donise Red Water of Wakpala and will seek a sentence of no more than 20 years. The maximum sentence for manslaughter is life in prison.

Authorities say 41-year-old Vincent Village Center was found dead in his apartment in late January. Red Water's attorney says the stabbing happened during an alcohol-fueled altercation between the two.
