WEDNESDAY'S BRIEFS: Mitchell High School hosting youth football camps

Mitchell High School will host a youth football camp today and Friday beginning at 9 a.m. on the high school practice field.

The camp is for players in grades 3-6 and no registration or fee is required. There also will be a free youth football camp for grades 3-6 on Aug. 13 at the practice field.

Ladies tourney set at Lakeview Aug. 10

The Lakeview Ladies Association is hosting a two-woman scramble golf tournament Aug. 10 at Lakeview Golf Course.

The event is sponsored by Pepsi-Cola of Mitchell and is open to all ladies ages 18 and older. The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Tigers sign 2012 volleyball recruit

The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team signed its first recruit for the 2012 season, it was announced Wednesday.

Sammy Fluck, of Becker, Minn., will join the Tigers next year.

Fluck is a hitter on her high school team. The Tigers start the 2011 season Aug. 26 at a tournament in Billings, Mont.
