LETTER: Breed-specific laws are breedism hate

To the Editor:

I encourage you all to educate yourselves regarding the failure of breed-specific legislation. It is not the breed at fault, it is the deed caused by irresponsible owners. All dogs can and do bite.

Less than a year ago, a child was killed in Arizona by a Weimaraner. Many cities are altering their BSL to become “dangerous dog” legislation. Banning a particular breed is ridiculous. You are more likely to be struck by lightning than to be bitten by a pit bull.

There are numerous resources on this topic. Do your readers and city a favor and give them accurate information, not breedism hate.
