Mitchell Technical Institute has added another layer of technology to its internet presence with the launch of a mobile website for smart-phone users.

Interactive Services Director Bob Kobernusz said the mobile site puts the functionality of a large website into the palm of a user’s hand.

The new mobile site pares down the information on MTI’s regular website — www.mitchelltech.edu — and adjusts site readability for the smaller screens of smart-phone devices.

The site went live on Wednesday and works for all types of smart phones, including iPhones, Blackberries and Androids, he said.

While enrolled MTI students can access the new mobile site, its intended targets are future MTI students and their parents. The new service allows admissions representatives to pull up YouTube videos on various school programs to give potential students a clearer idea on curriculum content.

MTI is one of the first postsecondary educational institutions in South Dakota to implement a mobile website.
