SIOUX FALLS (AP) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced that South Dakota will receive more than $2 million to assist homeowners in an emergency loan program.
The Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is one of three grantees in the state to participate in the Emergency Homeowner’s Loan Program.
The program’s money will help homeowners who are at least 90 days late on their mortgage payments and are unemployed or working fewer hours because of the economy or a medical condition.
Eligible homeowners have until Friday to complete the pre-applicant screening worksheet.
It is available at Lutheran Social Services, located at 705 E. 41st St., Suite 200. After the deadline, a lottery will determine which applicants will receive money.
