The Mitchell Aquatic Club had a number of event winners over the weekend at the annual Corn Palace Invitational swim meet at Hitchcock Park. The meet began Friday and ran through Sunday.
In the girls’ 9- and 10-year-old division, Cailey Scott won the 50-meter butterfly, 100 butterfly, 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle. Mackenzie Miller won the 50 breaststroke, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Gage Nelson won the 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 50 backstroke in the boys’ 11-12 division.
Tevyn Waddell won the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 50 freestyle and 1,500 freestyle in the girls’ 13-14 division.
Ethan Huber won the 100 backstroke for the boys’ 9-10 division. Huber also won the 400 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 50 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.
Alyssa Honermann won the 400 individual medley, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke in the girls’ 17-19 division.
Dushan Mirkovic won the boys’ 13-14 100 breaststroke.
Jackson Ebert won the boys’ 7-8 division’s 50 freestyle. Lauren Scott won the 6-and-under 100 backstroke.
In the boys’ 13-14 division, Christian Fossum won the 400 IM and the 200 backstroke. Fossum also won the 200 freestyle and the 50 freestyle.
Trina Young won the 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle in the girls’ 17-19 division.
In the boys’ 13-14 division, Chase Stehly won the 100 freestyle.
Karlie Brown won the girls’ 13-14 200 backstroke.
Zach Olson won the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and the 100 backstroke in the boys’ 15-16 division.
Gray Determan won the boys’ 13-14 200 breaststroke and the 1,500 freestyle.
MAC coach Kyle Margheim said he was pleased with the outcome of his team’s first home meet of the season.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend weather-wise,” Margheim said. “I was really pleased with how all my kids swam and we had a lot of personal-bests and state-qualifying times this weekend.
“It was a really good measuring stick to see where we are at in the season.”
MAC will participate in a meet this weekend in Sioux Falls.
