Mitchell unemployment unchanged

Mitchell's unemployment holds steady at 4.2 percent.

Mitchell’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in May at 4.2 percent, according to newly released data from the state Department of Labor.

The department’s city-level data is not seasonally adjusted, meaning impacts from seasonal industries such as tourism and construction are not removed.

The statewide May non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for South Dakota was 4.6 percent. Nationally, the May non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.7 percent.
