The amateur baseball game scheduled Tuesday night between the Mitchell Mad Dogs and the Parkston Mudcats was postponed to Thursday.

The game was scheduled for an 8 p.m. start time at Cadwell Park, but because of bad field conditions, it was postponed.

Mad Dogs selling raffle tickets

The Mitchell Mad Dogs amateur baseball team is selling reverse raffle tickets for Sunday’s game against Dimock-Emery at Cadwell Park.

Tickets are $10 and it will provide free admission to Sunday’s game, which starts 5 p.m.

Prizes for the reverse raffle include $250 cash and a $100 Cabela’s gift card.

The Modern Woodman will match the proceeds from the sale of the tickets.

To purchase tickets, contact players for the Mad Dogs.

Uher, Gau named Scholar Athletes

MARION, Ind. — Five Dakota State University track and field athletes were named NAIA Track and Field Scholar Athletes, including Mitchell native Stephanie Uher and Avon native Brandl Gau.

Student-athletes are nominated by their head coach for the honor and must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and have achieved junior academic status.

Other DSU athletes who earned the honor are Brittany Pearson, Amy Pheneger and Jerad Schlobohm.

Dimock/Emery moves to third in new Class B poll

The Dimock/Emery amateur baseball team fell one spot to No. 3 in Class B in the most recent South Dakota amateur baseball poll, which was announced earlier this week.

Madison remained in the top spot in Class B and the Dell Rapids Mudcats moved from third to second ahead of Dimock/Emery.

Tabor is ranked fourth, Canova is fifth, the Parkston Mudcats are No. 7, Salem is eighth and Humboldt-Hartford-Montrose is ninth in Class B.

The Renner Monarchs are the top-ranked team in Class A.
