Custer -- Even with the warmer weather, several more roads have been closed on the Black Hills National Forest.

“Active springs have developed from recent moisture and rain making the roadbeds soft and muddy,” said Darci Collins, South Zone Engineering Technician, Black Hills National Forest.

Roads closed include:

Boles Canyon Road from National Forest Service Road (NFSR) 301, also called

6 mile road, north to Beaver Creek Road NFSR 111.

NFSR 294.2A which accesses Red Bank Springs Campground, is also closed.

North Pole Road, (NFSR 287) west of Custer, is closed 3 miles north of U.S. Highway 16.

Collins said the roads will remain closed until further notice. “As soon as conditions allow and crews can get out, we will work to get the roads back open.”

Other roads throughout the Black Hills National Forest might not be accessible or might also be closed said Collins.

For further information on specific road closures or conditions contact your local Forest Service offices in Spearfish, Rapid City, Custer, Newcastle, Wyo., and Sundance, Wyo.
