PIERRE (AP) — Hundreds of people turned out for a meeting in the southeast South Dakota city of Dakota Dunes on Monday night to get flood questions answered, and hundreds more had to be turned away because there wasn't room.

Another meeting is planned Tuesday. Gov. Dennis Daugaard is to attend.

The city of 2,500 has been told to prepare to evacuate later this week because of Missouri River flooding.

The Army Corps of Engineers is releasing record amounts of water from dams on the river because of runoff from heavy spring snowmelt and rains.

Daugaard has ordered that boat access facilities below Gavins Point Dam in the Yankton area be closed. KCCR radio also reports that boating has been banned on Lake Sharpe from below Oahe Dam to the Antelope Creek area.
