Paul Melvin Brunken, 55, Steamboat Springs, Colo., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Yampa Valley Medical Center, Steamboat Springs.

There were no services.

Yampa Valley Funeral Home, Steamboat Springs handled the arrangements.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1956, in Parkston to Melvin and Phylis Brunken.

He grew up in South Dakota and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1974.

He attended culinary school and was a chef in Chamberlain, Mitchell and Omaha, Neb.

In 1983, he moved to Steamboat Springs.

He was a master carpenter. He also worked for Ski Country Kitchens for many years.

On June 28, 1986, he married Susan Gab.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Jaimie and wife Shawna; four grandchildren, his mother, two brothers: Charley and wife Greta, Rocky Ford, Ga.; and Tom and wife Dianne, Davis; a sister, Laurie, Crete, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.
