The Mitchell Aquatic Club is taking 36 swimmers to the state meet, which begins at 1:30 p.m. today in Pierre and runs through Sunday.

Seniors Trina Young, Reva Bork and Rhenetta Bork will be leading the charge for the MAC.

“They’ve all been training really hard this season and their past few meets have been promising so I’m hoping they can step up at the state meet,” MAC coach Kyle Margheim said.

Young is seeded second in the 100-meter butterfly and also will be a factor in the 200 butterfly.

Reva Bork should challenge in the distance freestyle events, Margheim said, while Rhenetta Bork is seeded in the top three in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Sophomores Zach Olson and Isaac Smith are both seeded in the top five in the 15- and 16-year-old division breaststroke and backstroke events.

Tevyn Waddell and Ethan Huber, a pair of 12-and-under swimmers, also will be looked at to perform well for the MAC.

Waddell and Huber are seeded first in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke in their respective age groups.

Margheim also mentioned the importance of his team’s relay squads at this weekends event. Reva and Rhenetta Bork and Young will all be key in the girls’ 15-18 year-old relays.

“They’re seeded in the top four in a few different relays, so we expect success in those,” Margheim said. “It will be a lot of kids to keep track of, but that’s a good problem to have.”
