For the fourth time in three years, a Mitchell man has been arrested for failing to register as a convicted sex offender.
Jeffrey Ray Heth, 47, was arrested Tuesday for the violation. Failure to register as a convicted sex offender is a Class 6 felony punishable by a maximum of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
Heth was convicted in 1997 of aggravated sexual abuse of two girls ages 6 and 7.
In November, he was arrested for failing to provide the Mitchell Police Division with his current address within five days of moving from his former address in Mitchell.
In February 2009, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. In exchange for his guilty plea, the state dropped a driving under the influence charge.
