Delford A. Juhnke, 83, Vivian, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.

Delford A. Juhnke, 83, Vivian, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Vivian Auditorium. Burial will be in Vivian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vivian Lutheran Church, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Isburg Funeral Chapel, Pierre, is handling arrangements.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1927, in Chamberlain to Arthur and Amy (Syvertsen) Juhnke.

He lived in Vivian for five years before moving to Kennebec with his family. They lived there until moving to Washington, D.C.

He attended seventh grade and graduated from McKinley High School in 1945.

After graduating, he moved back to Vivian, purchasing his grandparents’ farm in 1951.

On Oct. 23, 1949, he married Hazel Erikson.

He farmed and ranched south of Vivian.

He is survived by his wife, sons: Steven, Dennis and Larry; daughters: Kathy Caslin and Debbie Millard and husband Norv, all of Kennebec; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three infant daughters, his parents, a son-in-law, Howard Caslin; and a grandson-in-law.
