Two nights after Mitchell Christian coach Tom Young said his team didn’t play with much poise in a loss to Corsica/Stickney, his team responded with a 53-41 win over Ethan Thursday.

“I thought we did a better job; Ethan has a nice, young team, and I thought it would be a good matchup,” he said. “Christ (Christopher), Joe (Bosworth) and Luke (Olsen) all did a good job. Defensively, Cody Perman played well.

“Even though we shot the ball better, I think our defense keyed the win.”

Mitchell Christian (8-5) had an 11-7 lead after the first quarter, before the Eagles hit their stride in the second quarter with 22 points for a 33-18 halftime lead.

Mitchell Christian’s lead climbed to 18 at the end of the third. Young said he was pleased with how his team closed the game.

“We shot the ball well, especially in the first half,” he said. “The fourth quarter was about maintaining the lead. This is a good win for us.”

Mitchell Christian’s Bosworth led all scorers with 29 points and had four steals.

“Joe probably had his best night of his career,” Young said. “He hit shots right away. I think he was a little frustrated the other night, and I think he was trying to make amends.”

Olsen was one rebound away from a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Jordon Connor and Jace Connor each scored 14 points for Ethan (3-5). Jordon Connor grabbed eight rebounds.
