Anthony Marie Elizabeth Davis, 95, an Oblate Sister of the Blessed Sacrament, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Community Memorial Hospital, Wagner.

Anthony Marie Elizabeth Davis, 95, an Oblate Sister of the Blessed Sacrament, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Community Memorial Hospital, Wagner.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Marty. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Marty. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Wagner. Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Church.

She was born on June 18, 1915, in Belcourt, N.D., to David and Louise Ann (Champagne) Davis.

She lived with her grandparents following the death of her parents.

Her early education took place at a mission boarding school at Seven Dolors, Fort Totten, N.D. She ten attended a government school and then Little Flower School in St. Michael, N.D. where she graduated from the eighth grade.

She attended St. Paul Indian Mission in Marty for high School.

When in her 60s she obtained her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Black Hills State University, Spearfish.

She made her perpetual vows on June 8, 1954, and took the name of Sister Anthony Marie.

She celebrated her 75th anniversary as a Oblate Sister of the Blessed Sacrament on Oct. 10, 2010.

She has served as a sacristan, catechist, pastoral visitor, cook, housemother, office worker, teacher’s aid and teacher at Marty. She also spent six years working in Eagle Butte and four Years in Rapid City.

She is survived by members of her sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a younger brother.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for masses or to the Lake Andes Healthcare Center.
