Catching Up: Pratt scores two goals for Augsburg

Former Mitchell Marlin girls’ hockey standout Whitney Pratt scored two goals in Augsburg College’s 5-1 win over Finlandia University (Mich.) Monday. Pratt — a senior and team’s assistant captain — has played in all 11 games this year for Augsburg, scoring two goals and notching one assists. The Mitchell native has 10 shots on goal. Augsburg is 2-8-1 overall on the season.

Former Mitchell Marlin girls’ hockey standout Whitney Pratt scored two goals in Augsburg College’s 5-1 win over Finlandia University (Mich.) Monday.

Pratt — a senior and team’s assistant captain — has played in all 11 games this year for Augsburg, scoring two goals and notching one assists. The Mitchell native has 10 shots on goal. Augsburg is 2-8-1 overall on the season.

n Parkston native Riley Reiff and the University of Iowa defeated Missouri 27-24 in the Insight Bowl last week.

Reiff — who finished up his sophomore season — helped the Hawkeyes to an 8-5 season. Reiff was the starting left tackle in the bowl game and was named second-team all-Big 10 Conference earlier in the season.

n Cassie Neth is averaging 12.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the Mount Marty women’s basketball team this season.

Neth — a Scotland native — has started all 14 games for the Lancers this season, helping the team to a 10-4 overall record and 3-2 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

n Scotland’s Kristin Neth has played in all 17 of Northwestern College’s games this season.

Through Tuesday, she was averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. She helped the Red Raiders defeat Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday.

n Avon native Kela Cihak has started nine of 17 games for the Briar Cliff University women’s basketball team.

She’s averaging 7.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game and has led her team in rebounding in three games this year.

Briar Cliff is 11-7 overall this season and 4-2 in the GPAC.

n The South Dakota State University women’s basketball team defeated UMKC 81-59 Friday.

Mitchell native Jill Young had nine points, six assists and three rebounds and McCook Central graduate Kristin Rotert scored a game-high 17 points and also tallied five assists.

SDSU (5-9) plays Oral Roberts at 5 p.m. Saturday in Brookings.
