The jackpot for the Dec. 28, 2010 Mega Millions drawing has been increased from $196 million to $200 million.

The decision to raise the jackpot was made today by the group that oversees the game. Mega Millions tickets cost $1 per play without the Megaplier and $2 per play if the Megaplier is added. The Megaplier allows players to increase their non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, or 4 times depending upon what Megaplier number is drawn. Players who purchase the Megaplier option and match all five white number balls but not the yellow Mega Ball automatically win $1 million.

Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at all lotto retailers in South Dakota until 9:00 p.m CT/8:00 p.m. MT the night of the drawing. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1:175,711,536. The game is played in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
