Dwayne “Roger” Green, 84, Hill City, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Rapid City.
Dwayne “Roger” Green, 84, Hill City, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Rapid City.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Hill City, with the Rev. Brian Lane officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of McColley’s Chapel of the Hills, Custer.
He was born on July 1, 1926, on the family farm in Sanborn County to Reese R. and Florence B. (Walrath) Green.
He attended country schools in Sanborn County and graduated from Letcher High School.
On Jan. 18, 1949, he married Neoma F. Gaetze at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mitchell.
He was a diesel mechanic for 20 years with John Deere in Mitchell.
The next 20 years, he spent as fleet manager for Coca-Cola Bottling Company of central South Dakota, retiring in 1988.
In September 1990, they moved to Hill City.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters: Rachel Green, Huron; and Rayne Dosch, Pierre; two grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Kuhnes, Cleghorn, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Gaetze, Pierre; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, his parents, two brothers: Robert and Loren; and three sisters: Doris Green, Eleanor Phinney and Carol Kuhnes.
