Kley, Warne honored by GPAC

A pair of Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball players was honored as honorable mention selections by the Great Plains Athletic Conference, it was announced Wednesday.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Kley and junior defensive specialist Brooke Warne each were recognized by the league.
Kley, a La Porte, Texas, native who also earned All-GPAC Second Team honors last season, led the Tigers offense with 289 kills this fall. She also had a team-high 41 aces and was second on the team with 365 digs.
Kley finished her Tigers career in the top 15 in career kills and digs. She is sixth on the all-time kills list with 979 and seventh in digs with 1,087.
Warne, a junior from Rapid City, led DWU with 460 digs. She also finished third on the team with 25 aces.
She is currently 13th on the Tigers all-time digs list with 711.
DWU finished 10-24 overall and 4-12 in the GPAC.
Northwestern College, the GPAC champions, swept the individual conference awards.
Setter Kaitlin Beaver was the league’s player of the year and head coach Kyle Van Den Bosch was named coach of the year for the undefeated Red Raiders.
