Parkston native Kelli Fiegen had a match-high 20 kills in the South Dakota State volleyball team’s 3-2 win over Southern Utah Thursday.
She also had two solo blocks and seven block assists in the victory, which was the Jacks’ 13th of the year.
Fiegen also had a hand in SDSU’s 3-0 win over UMKC Saturday.
She’s played in 96 sets this year and has a total of 286 kills, averaging 2.98 kills per set.
- The Dakota State University volleyball team went 0-2 last week, but many Mitchell-area athletes contributed in the matches.
South Central graduate Mandy Baxa — a freshman — had a team-high 10 kills in a 3-0 loss to Dickinson State Friday. Ashley Schulte, a Bridgewater-Emery graduate, had three kills and three block assists in the match, while Erica Gall — formerly of Andes Central High School — had six kills and four digs.
Baxa had four kills, three digs and three block assists in a 3-1 loss to Minot State Saturday and Schulte had seven kills, three solo blocks and two block assists.
The Trojans are 11-20 this season and 4-9 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
- Alisyn Graesser, a Colome native, had five kills in two matches for Black Hills State University last weekend.
The Yellow Jackets lost to Jamestown College Friday and Valley City State Saturday. Both matches were sweep-style losses for Graesser and BHSU.
- Former Parkston standout Alex Muntefering helped the Oklahoma cross country team take third place in the Big 12 championships last weekend.
Although Muntefering’s time of 25 minutes, 24.28 seconds didn’t qualify in the top five for the team score, he finished 47th out of 96 runners.
