The goal was Peterson’s 11th of the season. The Tigers outshot NWU 15-10 and DWU goalie Danielle Richardson stopped four shots in the win.
The Tigers (14-2) host Northwestern College at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament at the Pepsi Cola Soccer Complex.
Tigers fall, still earn first GPAC berth

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Dakota Wesleyan men’s soccer team lost 3-2 to Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, but there was reason for optimism.
The Tigers finished in seventh place in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings, meaning they play at Doane College (Neb.) at 6 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the GPAC tournament.
Against NWU, the Tigers took a 2-1 lead when Nick Sterling scored early in the second half. However, NWU answered nearly four minutes later and Marcus Weiss scored the eventual game-winner five minutes after.
DWU goalie Jordan Werner had five saves in the loss.
DWU splits in road trip to Minnesota

MORRIS, Minn. — The Dakota Wesleyan volleyball team wrapped up its nonconference season by beating Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) and losing to the University of Minnesota-Morris in a triangular on Saturday.
The Tigers had a quick start, but found themselves having to rally in a 25-5, 23-25, 24-26, 25-19, 15-7 win over BLC.
Kimi Lueders, a freshman, had a match-high 14 kills. Meghan Cronberg (12), Andrea Johnson (12) and Ashley Kley (10) also had double-digit kills. Carina Fesenmaier had a match-high 56 assists while Brooke Warner had 28 digs.
Against Minnesota-Morris, Kley had 11 kills and Johnson finished with eight, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers fell 25-20, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-19. Kley added 19 digs.
DWU (10-22) plays at Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Wednesday before the opening round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday.
Pheasants fall in title tilt at tourney

LAS VEGAS — The South Dakota Pheasants couldn’t top Denver, losing 17-5 to finish runner-up at a 60-and-over national tournament on Saturday.
Randy Taylor took the loss in relief and also had two hits. Mike Oakland led the hitting effort with three as the Pheasants pounded out 15 hits.
Denver scored two runs in each of the first two innings and followed with nine more combined in the next two to run away with it, ending with 27 total hits. South Dakota score a trio of runs in the first, but struggled from there.
