Downtown Mitchell will be alive with activity Saturday as the local Outkasts Car Club hosts its sixth annual Outkasts Car Show and the National Pedal Pull Contest is held at the Corn Palace.

The car show is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street.

The car show displays hot rod and custom cars and trucks from 1973 and older.

Registration is $30 and begins Friday afternoon and at 8 a.m. Saturday at Vander Pol Dragline at 1001 Hot Rod Road.

Mike Hale, event organizer, said thousands attended the show last year. Approximately 400 cars were registered.

“It’s just a unique event. We’re bringing in cars from all over the United States and Canada. It’s pretty unusual for a South Dakota town to have cars internationally,” Hale said.

Besides the car show, there will be activities and live music by Starfire and Wolfman throughout the day. At 7 p.m., there will be a dance at the Corn Palace featuring Robbie Vee.

Admission to the National Pedal Pull Contest is $5 for people 13 years and older. Children 12 and younger are free.
