After winning the first two sets, the Mitchell Christian High School volleyball team had to hold on late for a five-set victory over Ethan on Monday night at Mitchell Christian High School.

Set scores of the match were 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25 and 15-9.

Mariah Nelson had 15 kills and Mackenzie VanLaecken added 11 to lead the Eagles, who improved to 3-5 and travel to Forestburg for a triangular against Sanborn Central and White Lake today.

Hannah Redder recorded 18 assists, Alexa VanLaecken had 11 and Meghan Dixon served four aces in the match.

Shelly Tilberg had 17 kills, three blocks and four aces to pace the Rustlers, who face Scotland on Thursday.

Shelby McBrayer added nine kills and Anna Mueller had seven for Ethan, who was led by Kaci Tuttle’s 36 assists.

Sanborn Central 3,

Wessington Springs 2

FORESTBURG — Lindsey Miller had nine kills and Shanda Dean added five as Sanborn Central topped Wessington Springs in five sets Monday night.

Set scores of the match were 16-25, 25-23, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-11.

Jasmine Parce had four aces and 16 assists for the Rebels, who improved to 2-6 and hosts a triangular against Mitchell Christian and White Lake today.

Tatem Kingsbury finished with seven kills for Sanborn Central.

Traci Orth had 14 kills and five blocks to pace the Spartans, who are 1-5 and host Mount Vernon on Thursday.

Shelby Sandman had eight aces at 14 assists and Megan Sedlackek added five aces for Wessington Springs.

Parker 3, Irene-Wakonda 0

PARKER — Jess Kleinsasser had 13 kills and Jess McKenney and Tessa Weeldreyer each had five to lead the way as Parker downed Irene-Wakonda in straight sets on Monday night.

Sets scores of the match were 25-12, 25-12, 25-19.

Liz Nutley’s eight kills led I-W, which hosts Baltic in Wakonda today.

Emily Hanten had 18 assists and Andrea Duncan added nine for Parker, which is 14-2 and travels to Parker on Thursday.
