DEADWOOD, S.D. (9/7/10) - As the $40 million Deadwood Mountain Grand gaming, entertainment and lodging complex takes shape in downtown Deadwood, you can get a sneak peek at the project as construction continues.
The Deadwood Mountain Grand website went live this week at www.deadwoodgrand.com. The Deadwood Mountain Grand itself is scheduled to go live July 1, 2011, when the upscale hotel, entertainment venue and casino opens its doors.
The project's partners officially broke ground on the Deadwood Mountain Grand this spring. Partners are Nashville's Dale Morris, Marc Oswald and Dwight Wiles, who manage some of Country Music's top national acts, as well as Kenny Alphin of the country duo Big & Rich. Deadwood partners are Mike Gustafson, Ron Wheeler, George Mitchell and Tim Conrad.
"This truly is going to be the premier Black Hills destination for the entire country," Oswald said. "We look forward to bringing top-notch music and entertainment to Deadwood. And this facility will offer exceptional visitor experiences in every way."
When completed, the Deadwood Mountain Grand will include a 100-room upscale hotel, a 210-device state-of-the-art casino, an entertainment and event center with seating for 2,500 people and a multi-level parking facility.
At the heart of the modern lodging and entertainment complex is the historic gold processing plant built by Homestake Mining Co. in 1905. Crews are completely renovating the structure while retaining its historic mining heritage. In the summer of 2009, extensive exterior work was completed to restore the plant's historic steel façade.
The new website includes regular blog updates on the construction work, as well as photos, renderings and information about the Deadwood Mountain Grand complex. As July 2011 nears, the emphasis on the website will shift to the major music acts, upscale amenities and conference facilities that will define the Deadwood Mountain Grand.
In addition, the public can follow the Deadwood Mountain Grand project on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.
Built on the hillside overlooking Whitewood Creek, the Deadwood Mountain Grand will offer awesome views of Deadwood and the Black Hills. Yet it's just a few steps from Deadwood's Historic Main Street.
The Deadwood Mountain Grand name is derived from the hit song, "Deadwood Mountain," by Big & Rich, the country duo Big Kenny Alphin formed with John Rich in 1998. The two have played oft
