Richard “Dick” Vosberg, 74, Midland, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital, Philip.

Richard “Dick” Vosberg, 74, Midland, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital, Philip.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. (MDT) Thursday at Midland School Auditorium with the Rev. Kathy Chesney officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blunt. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rush Funeral Home, Philip. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the services Thursday.

He was on born April 30, 1936, in Bridgewater to Harry and Asenith “Pat” Vosberg.

He graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1954. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University for one year and graduated from Augustana College in 1958.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in social science and physical education from Huron College and his master’s degree in educational administration from Black Hills State University in Spearfish.

He was a teacher and school administrator for 45 years in Belvidere, Blunt, Spencer, Todd County, Kadoka, White River, Draper, Midland, Kimball, Kyle and Crazy Horse. He was a coach and referee for more than 40 years, earning region basketball coach of the year twice, Dakota Wesleyan’s alumni coach of the year and the 25-Year Coaches Award.

He was also a member of Lifetime Basketball Coaches Association.

He married Erin Lynne Doyle on July 7, 1961, in Blunt.

He is survived by his daughter, Holly Nemec and husband Randy, Midland; a son, Kelly and wife Dena, Blunt; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tate, in 2002; and his parents.
