SPORTS BRIEF: Kernels finish 2-1 at Huron Quad

HURON — The Mitchell High school girls tennis team went 2-1 at the Huron Quadrangular on Saturday.

The Kernels (7-2) pounded Brandon Valley 8-1 and Huron 9-0, but suffered their first loss of the season by way of Aberdeen Central’s 6-3 victory.

Kendra Cersosimo went 3-0 at No. 3 singles and teamed with No. 1 singles player Angie Lorenzen to win all three doubles matches. Lorenzen also won two of her three singles matches.

Megan Solberg won all three of her matches at No. 2 singles, but went 1-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Mitchell hosts Sioux Falls Washington at 4 p.m. Thursday.
