Sgt. Mike Koster, of the Mitchell Department of Public Safety, speaks with a class Thursday evening about the variety of items that can be found in the department’s “Lost and Found.” Thursday was the first session of this year’s Mitchell Police Citizens’ Academy, in which local residents learn about the operations of the Police Division. The Daily Republic’s courts and crimes reporter, Austin Kaus, is attending the 12-week program and writing about his experiences on a blog called Citizen on Patrol.
