Parkston beats Dell Rapids in state tourney
MADISON — Parkston beat Dell Rapids 6-0 and Chamberlain lost to Madison 12-2 in the first round of the Class A 13- and-14-year-old VFW state baseball tournament Friday at Flynn Field. Parkston’s Spencer Lucas had a two-RBI double in the four inning to start a six-run rally that put Parkston in control. Lucas later scored on a Cole Donahue single. Lucas and Lane Konrad combined to pitch the shutout for Parkston. In other first-round action, Groton beat Beresford 17-3 and Dakota Valley beat Humboldt-Hartford 9-5. Groton will face Parkston today in the championship bracket at 5:30 p.m., while Chamberlain will face Humboldt-Hartford.By: Sports staff, The Daily Republic
