Mitchell falls to Sioux Falls East 8-4
The Mitchell baseball team fell to Sioux Falls East 8-4 in the second round of the state Legion baseball tournament Thursday. Post 18 falls into to the loser’s bracket to play Watertown at 5:30 p.m. tonight in an elimination game at Cadwell Park. The Mitchell baseball team fell to Sioux Falls East 8-4 in the second round of the state Legion baseball tournament Thursday.
Post 18 falls into to the loser’s bracket to play Watertown at 5:30 p.m. tonight in an elimination game at Cadwell Park.
Sioux Falls East scored six runs in the fourth inning off three hits to take a 7-2 lead.
Mitchell took an early 2-0 lead off RBI hits from Sean DeVries and Ryan Buck in the third inning.
It closed the gap in the fifth, scoring two more runs. Buck scored when Nick Young worked a bases-loaded walk and Kendall Patrick scored on a Josh Schmidt fielder’s choice.
DeVries and Patrick each had two hits, while Buck, Kyle Larson and Zach London each had one hit.
Collin Moen started for Post 18. He threw 3.1 innings, allowing five hits, six earned runs and two walks.
Jordan Schievelbein threw 5.1 innings for Sioux Falls East. He allowed seven hits and four earned runs.
