A conditional use permit for a proposed expansion by Mitchell Retirement gained approval Monday from the Mitchell Planning and Zoning Commission.
Mitchell Retirement, which owns Countryside Living, is proposing an expansion to operate more than 24 units of multi-family dwelling at 2100 N. Wisconsin St.
City Planner Neil Putnam said the request, in addition to adding units, will make Countryside Living more flexible. The facility could offer congregated or assisted living in the future, Putnam said.
“They’re going to add 23 with the expectation of adding more,” he said. “They want to get the conditional use in place to adjust their existing units for future uses and for existing uses.”
The proposal will now go to the Mitchell City Council at its Aug. 2 meeting.
During the Monday afternoon meeting, the planners also:
• Approved an application for a conditional use permit by Laura Trautman to operate a daycare center in her home at 929 E. Hanson Ave. It will now go before the council.
• Denied an application from Brad Jamison to construct a garage at 1000 W. Hurst.
• Approved plats in North Maui’s first addition, in the CJM second addition and in the Island first addition. A fourth plat was tabled.
• Tabled variance requests from Frank and Mary Bruna for a house/garage at 30 Cypress Point and from Mike Miiller and Susan Streetman for an accessory building at 1112 S. Kimball.
