MAC competes at two S.F. meets

SIOUX FALLS — The Mitchell Aquatic Club competed at two swim meets in Sioux Falls July 9-11. Thirty-one members of the Mitchell Aquatic Club competed over the course of the weekend.

SIOUX FALLS — The Mitchell Aquatic Club competed at two swim meets in Sioux Falls July 9-11. Thirty-one members of the Mitchell Aquatic Club competed over the course of the weekend.

The Sioux Falls Snowfox hosted 649 swimmers from throughout the Midwest. On July 9, swimmers took part in the 13-and-over IM Tough Challenge/12-and-under 400 Free event.

At that meet, Ethan Huber took third (6:09.01) in the boys’ 9-10 400-meter freestyle race for the MAC. In the girls’ 9-10 division, Cailey Scott took fourth(6:11.21) in the 400 freestyle and Mackenzie Miller was fifth (6:14.89) in the same race. In the boys’ 13-14 division, Zachary Olson was third (37.25) in the 50 breaststroke.

July 10 and 11, the Snowfox hosted their annual summer invitational.

Top-five finishers for the MAC included Gray Determan, who took third (1:07.15) in the boys’ 11-12 100 freestyle. In the boys’ 9-10 division, Huber took fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:57.1), 100 backstroke (1:33.57) and 100 butterfly (1:50.02).

In the boys’ six-and-under division, Reegan Nydam was third in the 50 freestyle (1:14.95). Zachary Olson took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:54.66) in the boys’ 13-14 division.

Brynn Palmer took third in the 200 freestyle (4:03.14) in the girls’ 7-8 division. In the girls’ 9-10 division, Scott was fourth in the 50 backstroke (43.35).

In the girls’ 17-and-over division, Katrina Young took third in the 50 freestyle (30.59) and 200 butterfly (2:42.31) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (1:05.69) and 100 butterfly (1:11.31).
