The Mitchell Aquatic Club hosted the IMX Challenge over the Fourth of July weekend and came away with a number of top individual finishes.
Andrea Budahl took first in the girls’ 15-and-over age division after winning the 400-meter freestyle, 1,500-freestyle, 200-backstroke, 200-breaststroke, 200-butterfly, 200-individual medley and 400-individual medley at the event. Budahl also took second in the 100-butterfly in her age group at the IMX Challenge, which is comprised of the longer swim events.
In the girls’ 11-12 age division, Karlie Brown was the champion. Brown won the 100-butterfly and took second in the 50-freestyle, 400-freestyle and 200-individual medley.
Gage Nelson took first in the boys’ 9-10 age division. He was the champion of 10 events in his age division.
Cailey Scott won the girls’ 9-10 age division, and Mackenzie Miller placed second in the same section. In the boys’ 11-12 age division, Christian Fossum took second and Gray Determan was third.
The IMR Challenge was comprised of the shorter swim events and Mitchell also had impressive finishes in that event.
Trina Young, Alyssa Honermann and Quinn Determan took the top three spots in the girls’ 15-and-over age division. Abby Young, Emmie Honermann and Allison Miller placed first through third in the girls’ 13-14 age division.
Nelson won the boys’ 9-10 age division and Scott and Miller took the top two spots in the girls’ 9-10 division. Reid Determan was second in the boys’ 15-and-over age division, Aja McDaniel took second in the girls’ 11-12 age division and Taylor Studer finished second in the girls’ 8-and-under division.
The MAC also received first place overall in the team standings.
The MAC also had swimmers compete at the Aberdeen Summer High Point Meet June 18-20.
MAC had a number of swimmers place near the top of their age divisions.
Budahl took third in the girls’ 17-19 age division, Zach Olson was fourth in the boys’ 13-14 division and Tevyn Waddell took eighth in the girls’ 11-12 division. Nelson took second in the boys’ 9-10 division and Scott finished fifth in the girls’ 9-10 division.
