Mitchell Gold wins two against Chamberlain

CHAMBERLAIN — The Mitchell Gold teener baseball team swept Chamberlain Monday in Chamberlain. Mitchell won the first game 17-6 in six innings. Evan Mastel picked up the win.

CHAMBERLAIN — The Mitchell Gold teener baseball team swept Chamberlain Monday in Chamberlain.

Mitchell won the first game 17-6 in six innings. Evan Mastel picked up the win.

Ty Moody and Jacob Haiar were 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Lakin Neugebauer was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

In the second game, Mitchell won 16-4 in six innings. Seth Cavanaugh was the winning pitcher.

Cavanaugh was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, Neugebauer was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Moody was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Mitchell plays Sioux Falls East Wednesday in Sioux Falls.

Black drops two

The Mitchell Black teener baseball team was swept by Aberdeen in a doubleheader Monday at Drake Field.

Aberdeen won the first game, 7-6. Mitchell scored four runs in the last inning, thanks in part to five walks and hits by Aaron Sudbeck and Connor Larson, but came up short.

Sudbeck took the complete-game loss after giving up five hits and six walks while striking out five.

In the second game, Aberdeen jumped ahead early in a 13-3 win. It scored four runs in each of the first two innings and led 8-1.

Derek Miller took the loss for Mitchell. Larson and Sudbeck each doubled for Mitchell, which had four hits.
