Mount Vernon beats Alexandria/Emery

EMERY — Mount Vernon beat Alexandria/Emery 14-4 in six innings Wednesday in a 15-16 VFW baseball game in Emery.

Cam Deinert threw all six innings for Mount Vernon and gave up a single hit and two earned runs. He struck out eight batters and walked five. Reid Smith threw 1.1 innings and took the loss for Alexandria/Emery. He gave up eight runs, five hits and walked seven.

Cody London went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead Mount Vernon. Brian Vermeulen was also 2-for-4. Cam Deinert was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Dean Frey was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and Justin Davis was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Deric Kocer had Alexandria/Emery’s lone hit.

Mount Vernon is now 5-0 and hosts White Lake/Kimball today.

The Mount Vernon 13-14 team beat Alexandria/Emery 9-1.
