River City Racin' canceled due to flood conditions
The Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge presented by River City Racin’ scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Chamberlain-Oacoma has been canceled due to unexpected floodwaters, according to a news release. Plans are under way for the event in 2011.
The Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge presented by River City Racin’ scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Chamberlain-Oacoma has been canceled due to unexpected floodwaters, according to a news release. Plans are under way for the event in 2011.
Reports of debris in the river, as well as rising Missouri River water levels, were putting the race site in jeopardy. Spectator and race team safety were primary in this decision. Local resources are being utilized for local infrastructure needs and ensuring public safety.
River City Racin’ has assessed all options with the assistance and input from multiple agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks, Brule/Buffalo Emergency Management and city officials from Chamberlain and Oacoma.
