ABERDEEN — After a short stint as Presentation College men’s head basketball coach, Matt Sevareid is headed back to his college alma matter.
Sevareid, a Mitchell High School graduate, was hired as the top assistant for the men’s basketball program at Northern State University, it was announced recently by the university.
He finished his collegiate career with the Wolves and was a graduate assistant under Don Meyer. After completing graduate school, Sevareid was a volunteer assistant at Gonzaga University for a year before serving as an assistant coach at Jamestown College.
In 2007, he returned to Aberdeen to take over at Presentation College. In his first year, the Saints went 7-18. This past season, they finished 12-14.
“Matt’s passion for Northern State and our basketball program, along with his experience as head coach, set him apart from the other candidates,” NSU head coach Paul Sather said in a press release. “He has experienced basketball at all different levels and understands the expectations here at NSU.”
