Teener Gold takes home tournament title
The Mitchell Teener Gold baseball team won its home tournament over the weekend. Mitchell went 4-0 over the two-day tournament and beat Aberdeen, 7-6, Sunday afternoon at Cadwell Park in the championship game.By: Sports staff, The Daily Republic
The Mitchell Teener Gold baseball team won its home tournament over the weekend.
Mitchell went 4-0 over the two-day tournament and beat Aberdeen, 7-6, Sunday afternoon at Cadwell Park in the championship game.
Lakin Neugebauer started for Mitchell in the championship. He threw five innings, allowed six earned runs and five hits. He struck out five.
Zach Moen relieved Neugebauer in the sixth and picked up the win. He threw two innings and allowed two hits and no runs. He struck out two.
Evan Mastel went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Neugebauer was 1-for-1 with two walks.
To get to the championship game, Mitchell beat Vermillion, 3-1.
Michael Sadler picked up the win with a complete game and Kirby Fuerst went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Saturday, Mitchell defeated Chamberlain, 19-4, and Lennox, 15-0.
Against Chamberlain, Mason Cahoy picked up the win, throwing three innings. Seth Cavanaugh went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Zach Moen threw a complete game against Lennox. He threw three innings and struck out six.
The Mitchell Teener Gold team is 4-2 and at Aberdeen Wednesday.
