To the Editor:
In your April 3-4 issue, you had an article regarding ordination and women listing the denominations that ordain women and denominations that do not ordain women.
The question I have of these denominations that do not ordain women is, how do you deal with the following Bible verses which deal with the resurrection of Jesus?
Matthew 28:5: “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here. He has risen just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples. …’ ”
Mark 16:1: “When the Sabbath was near, Mary Magdalene, Mary the Mother of James and Salome… Verse 6: As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe… ‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said, ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He has risen…but go tell His disciples…’ ”
Luke 24:9: “When they (the women) told all these things…”
John 24: 17-18: “Jesus said, ‘Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them I am returning to the Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’
“Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news. ‘I have seen the Lord.’
“And she told them…”
