Peter Hoeksema, Gregory

Peter Hoeksema, 87, Gregory, and formerly of rural Bonesteel, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Avera Gregory Healthcare Center, Gregory. There will be no funeral services. Visitation will start at 2 p.m. Monday, until a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, all at Kotrba Funeral Home, Gregory.

Peter Hoeksema, 87, Gregory, and formerly of rural Bonesteel, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Avera Gregory Healthcare Center, Gregory.

He was born Nov. 24, 1922, in Platte to Ben and Etta (Van Vuuren) Hoeksema.

He grew up on the family farm in Charles Mix County, where they lived until 1945, when the family bought a ranch north of Bonesteel in Gregory County.

Upon retirement in 2004, he moved to Gregory.

He was a longtime member of Lucas Baptist Church.

He is survived by a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Irene Shutt; a brother-in-law, Harry Shutt; and a niece.
