Howard Laverne Dickinson, 87, Napa, Calif., died Feb. 24, 2010, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Howard Laverne Dickinson, 87, Napa, Calif., died Feb. 24, 2010, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be at noon on Sunday at Vedder Community Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, Napa.

Arrangements are under the direction of Treadway and Wigger Funeral Chapel, Napa.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1923, in Mount Vernon to William and Ethel (Hedge) Dickinson.

He graduated from high school and went to work for United Airlines as a mechanic in1941.

He served with the Army Air Corps as a communications technician in Panama, during World War II.

He resumed working for United Airlines at the end of his tour of duty and retired in 1984 as the lead mechanic for the company at the company’s San Francisco maintenance base.

He was a member of Mainliner Club of United Airlines, Redwood Empire Club of United Airlines and was a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose.

He is survived by two sons: Ronald, Oakland, Calif.; and Patrick, Sunnyvale, Calif.; a daughter, Ann Pasmore, Sunnyvale; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, two brothers and a sister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet; and a daughter, Donna.
