David E. Nelson, 67, Chamberlain, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Sanford Mid Dakota Medical Center, Chamberlain.

David E. Nelson, 67, Chamberlain, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Sanford Mid Dakota Medical Center, Chamberlain.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chamberlain. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Chamberlain. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today with family present at Hickey-Wevik Funeral Chapel, Chamberlain.

He was born on July 20, 1942, at Portland, Ore., to Einer and Doris (Dent) Nelson.

He attended grade school and graduated from Benson High School in Portland in 1960.

After high school, he began his heating and air conditioning business and also worked as a real estate agent.

On Oct. 5, 1986, he married Sharon Holler at Pierpoint.

In 1988, they moved from Portland to Chamberlain, where he continued his heating/air conditioning business and real estate business.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chamberlain. He was a Gideon and was instrumental in setting up a Gideon Camp in Chamberlain, where he was currently serving as vice president.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters: Kim, Shannon and Michelle, all of Oregon; a stepdaughter, Michelle Hamiel, Roscoe; a stepson, Christopher Hallman, Nashville; his mother, Doris Traver, Chamberlain; two brothers: Donald P., Vancouver Wash.; and Victor Nelson, Portland; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
