USD falls to Cornell, 71-65

VERMILLION — The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team lost 71-65 to Cornell Friday at the DakotaDome.

VERMILLION — The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team lost 71-65 to Cornell Friday at the DakotaDome.

Cornell, which was coming off of a near-upset of No. 1 Kansas Thursday, was led by Louis Dale’s 19 points.

Jake Thomas led USD with 17 points and Tyler Cain and Roman Gentry each added 12. USD is now 6-8.

Jamestown 74,

S.D. School of Mines 62

JAMESTOWN, N.D. — Jamestown College beat South Dakota School of Mines and Technology 74-62 Friday in Jamestown.

Mount Marty 66,

No. 6 Sioux Falls 57

YANKTON — Mount Marty College picked up just its fourth win of the season Friday when it upset No. 6 University of Sioux Falls 66-57 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference game in Yankton.

Matt Malloy was the only Cougar in double digits with 18 points. USF was plagued with 18 turnovers while Mount Marty committed eight.

Weston Kusser scored 16 points to lead the Lancers. Trey Krier added 15 and Dan Harmon had 10. Mount Marty shot 51.1 percent from the field to USF’s 35.6 percent.

USF is now 14-4 overall, 6-1 in the GPAC. Mount Marty is 4-12 overall, 2-4 in the league.

Dakota State 76,

No. 11 Minot State 75

MINOT, N.D. — Everett Smith scored 20 points to lead Dakota State to a 76-75 upset win over No. 11 Minot State Friday in Minot, N.D.

Jackson Parr added 19 points for the Trojans, who are 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.

Nick Turner scored 24 points for Minot State (11-5, 1-2).
