The state Highway Patrol has released the name of the girl who died in an accident early Saturday in Jerauld County.
Jasmyn Knippling, 17, of Wessington Springs, died when the vehicle in which she was riding rolled at 2:24 a.m. west of Alpena and north of Wessington Springs in northern Jerauld County.
Also injured were the driver, Tanner Easton, 19; Ty Kenobbie, 17; and LoriAnn Schimke, 17, all of Wessington Springs. Easton has life-threatening injuries and Kenobbie and Schimke have serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
According to Highway Patrol reports, a 2006 Hummer H3 driven by Easton was traveling eastbound on 220th Street. The report said the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of 386th Avenue, went off the road, rolled and came to rest on its top.
No seat belts were in use at the time of the mishap and alcohol was a factor, the Highway Patrol said.
