Francis August “Fran” Rokusek, 84, Olivet, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Freeman Regional Health Services, Freeman.

Francis August “Fran” Rokusek, 84, Olivet, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Freeman Regional Health Services, Freeman.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. George Catholic Church, Scotland, with the Rev. Mathew Vazhappilly officiating. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery, Scotland. Visitation will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. today at Goglin Funeral Home, Scotland. There will be a 6:30 p.m. rosary today at the church followed by a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1925, at Olivet to John and Emma (Blaha) Rokusek.

He attended Pleasant Hill Grade School through the eighth grade.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in June 1951.

On Nov. 20, 1951, he married Florence Mayer in Dimock.

They farmed northwest of Olivet until retiring in 1994.

He continued to live on the farm until his death.

He was a member of St. George Catholic Church his entire life, serving mass, as a member of the Parish Council and as an usher for many years. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus and Wittenberg Township Board.

He is survived by his wife; six children: Agnes Rokusek, Sioux Falls; Allen, Bargersville, Ind.; Steve and wife Connie, Oakland, Neb.; Diane Schnabel, Freeman; Joey and wife Janet, Sioux Falls; and Sheri Preszler and husband Steve, rural Menno; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack; and a son-in-law, Corey Schnabel.
