SIOUX FALLS — Mitchell’s Megan Solberg was the last remaining flight playing Saturday at the girls’ state tennis tournament.

SIOUX FALLS — Mitchell’s Megan Solberg was the last remaining flight playing Saturday at the girls’ state tennis tournament.

Solberg lost to Cassie Malik of Rapid City Stevens 10-7 in No. 3 singles play Saturday to end the tournament with fourth place.

“We would have liked to pull off that last win, but she was against a top-notch opponent,” Mitchell coach Gayle Klein said. “She went from playing in the five singles a year ago, to making a big jump this year at No. 3. That’s pretty good.”

Mitchell finished with 190 points, which was good enough for 12th place.

“We weren’t all that far off from last year’s total (in points), despite having a pretty much brand new lineup,” Klein said. “I’m really happy where we ended up.”

Sioux Falls O’Gorman took first with 718 points, Stevens finished second with 668 and Watertown was third with 477.
